In Defense of Sexy Women (you dun goofed Kelly...
Recently, there has been a backlash related to the designs of some female fictional characters, specifically Merida from Brave in the wake of her induction into the Disney Princess line, and the women of superhero comics, with cries of “sexism” “objectification” and “male gaze”.
The Merida part of it is one of the biggest non-issues I’ve seen in a while....

Tumblr DID NOT make Free! an anime.
Okay, I’ve just read 2 articles on Geekosystem claiming that Tumblr’s “ironic fandom” for a 30 second anime promo dubbed “Swimming Anime” somehow convinced Kyoto Animation to make it into a full series.
And that is straight up bullshit.
It was cute while it started, but anyone who things that a few thousand posts on the internet convinced Japanese animators...

Ok dudes, I gotta make a comment about doll repaints. A lot of the customs I’ve been seeing are kind of bad.
The biggest thing that makes a repaint look bad is thick, sloppy paint application.
It’s worth it to invest in some paint thinner and tiny brushes. Trust me. If you start doing just those 2 things, your dolls will look a lot better.
Also, tiny eyeeees. they creep me out

How about for a no shame Sunday theme, your rarest/most valuable doll?
aka Wave 1, Dawn of the Dance Wave 2, any of the male dolls especially Gil, and/or any Comic-Con exclusives.

Why are budget Monster High dolls of significantly better quality than the deluxe dolls? I would think that they would cut costs on the smaller dolls.
I have both deluxe and budget dolls in my collection, but the dolls that are supposed to be more detailed and are higher-priced are the dolls that have loose/cracked joints, wonky face paint, and glue problems.

scaris 2 pack had chipped paint...help
Ok MH tag, I have a dilemma. My Scaris 2 pack arrived today from Amazon but when I opened the package I saw that that both Cleo and Lagoona had chipped face paint.
Should I send it back? and if I do, should I ask Amazon to send a replacement, or should I try and find one in real life at the nearest ToysRUs?

If comics (besides Archie) started being sold in places like newsstands and grocery stores again, what kinds of stories would you want to see? Alternatively, what kinds of stories would sell?

Chinese Cleo dolls seem to have paler skin than Indonesian Cleos…has anyone else noticed this?
Actually a lot of dolls seem to look different depending on the country of origin. Like Indonesian Spectra and Abbey have much wider faces and blockier jaws than their China versions, and China Ghoulia’s eyes are squinty. Overall I like the China dolls better, except for Cleo’s skin...

I never thought I’d say this, but I’m thinking of parting with my Wave 1s. I have Lagoona, Ghoulia, Deuce and Cleo…I have no idea what they’re worth now.
I would also be willing to trade…would a Scaris Cleo for a Wave 1 Cleo be fair?

I just came home on spring break and I discovered that all my Wave 1 dolls are leaking glue. I tried brushing baby powder through the hair but I don’t know if that works. Is there anything else I can do? These are my babies here.

I wish the character’s pets had more of a presence in the story. Heck, they already have profiles on the plushie boxes. Like why not a Rugrats-ish episode showing what the pets do when everyone’s at school? They could like, talk and stuff.
The one thing that Bratzillaz does better than Monster High is that the characters’ pets actually have a part in the storyline…why...

I’m not a huge fan of Scarah, but I think it’s cool that she’s getting another doll for the people that want her. I don’t like the pink lipstick though.
But onto the real question, MH tag…who is the sexiest green chick; Frankie, Scarah, CAM Witch, or Venus? Frankie is sweet, Venus is bold, CAM Witch is elegant, and Scarah is vintage…I’m not sure myself

Boil straighten help?
I was thinking about boil straightening my Picture Day Cleo’s hair (though I like the underdye, Cleo looks better with straight hair) until I remembered that she was made in Indonesia, and thus has glue in her head.
Is is possible to boil perm an Indonesian doll’s hair without risking the glue seeping out?
Also, her forearms are very loose but won’t come out at the same...
